Ridley Scotts "fallen masterpiece" Legend "in its own rite, became one of the most infamous, if not exciting Hollywood legacy. In 1984, Ridley Scott, director of the famous sci-fi thriller" Alien " came together to tell a fairy tale. Once was accompanied by the writer William Hjortsberg, the duo began a creative journey to discuss what would become the beloved film "Legend". The film received even the right elements for the fairy tale as a whole. The princess, the hero, the villain, elves, fairies and other characters and magical creatures such as unicorns and Honeythorn Gump. Seeing the film is intended as a short fairy tale, but it also means trace the modern genre back to its "roots style Grim. In fact, the final product was pure in this tissue of fables. Just as it is soft and light, is so dark, surreal, nightmarish and ultimately fascinating.
Besides the film is the shadow of darkness in the magical land. A good way to show the sudden change of light and made me happy, dark and frightening.
In history, we have the world, happy, beautiful, totally convincing in its own nature. The grim truth in his own reality. Darkness once ruled the world, but has since declined to levels below the ground, moaning and complaining once in a lifetime best. The world is happy, because the Unicorn, an animal very dear and sacred, the rules of the earth. These amazing creatures know only love and laughter, and thusly, protecting the world from evil. They are attracted to one aspect of human nature, innocence. Princes Lily is pure heart and mind and spirit. Her friend's soul, Jack leads to creatures, as a gesture of love and affection. Most unfortunately, the dark Lord has sent his army after the creatures too. When both sides are in the right place at the wrong time, unicorns injured, and the earth in danger. Thus begins a journey filled with action, adventure and excitement.
Tom Cruise has only done well in this film, at least for me. Actually, it's very emotional and believable as the hero Jack. This demonstrates the strength and courage, as opposed to confusion and fear of the unknown. Very plausible indeed. Mia Sara is so beautiful, innocent and pure as the princess. Its features consist of a blind ambition, love entertaining disaster, and of course, innocence. You've never seen so perfect as the image. Now, Tim Curry makes a hell of a show. Thanks to modern filmmaking, Curry is a picture of fear, disgust, however, the ultimate sexual darkness. The three stars are all mixed up in a fairy tale with a message at the end. (Note: this message only seen in the restored 2002 Directors Cut).
I feel no need to obtain the controversy that followed the shooting, as is well known by fans and movie lovers of all kinds. What I can say is that Ridley Scott was certainly determined to give us a product of his imagination. That said, it gave us a real fantasy. He gave us a true story about magic, love, hate, adventure, and all sorts of elements that creates a film like this should be. One thing to note, however, the late Jerry Goldsmith. This masterpiece of film composition of persuasion, music, gave us his ultimate best, and that was to be generous and forget stabbed in the back during the processing of "Alien". Again, the great musician mistaken, and his beautiful score was thrown out the window of the American version, leaving the film sweet and juicy. Even worse, important scenes were cut so the movie uneven and apparently crashed.
Sad, this type of treatment has come a year earlier in 1984 with "Supergirl". Fortunately, however, gave us the true version of the film in mid-2002, and rightly so. The film has been seen and loved by the fans like me who loved the way back when .... and now.
The best I can say is that this film has a full blown brain, and the producers and creators, and what ultimately gives the film justice. Same with "Supergirl" in 2000. In short, this movie is great, and touching, and even more glorious masterpiece!
